SeeSaw
Seesaw is a digital portfolio that students, teachers and parents can access on all devices. Students can independently document what they are learning at school within their own digital portfolio. They can put up photos, videos, drawings, text notes and PDFs. Their work can then be shared with parents, classmates and their teacher. The app's advantage is that students can see their own accomplishment and development and know that their parents and teachers can also see it. Also students and parents can have easy access to teacher feedback and this gives the student a sense of responsibility over their own education. Parents are instantly connected with their child's schooling and teachers can save time on organising their own portfolios.
Within the HPE setting, SeeSaw could be used to upload videos of students performing the different skills learned throughout the year. The students could then see how they may have developed in a skill over time by looking back at the videos. Teachers would be able to use these videos to justify the students given mark to the parents and student. Within the SEPEP Unit I would use this app to keep track of how the students learnt the skills in weeks 1-4.
Seesaw has a free version that enables most of the functions within the app. To buy the upgraded version it costs $120 a year, which makes Seesaw affordable for most schools.
