Voki
Voki is a fun way of communicating information that will engage the students. Teachers and students can use Voki to create their very own avatar. When creating a Voki you can select an avatar, customise the avatar, add a voice (either your own or one of the ones within the library) and finally choose a background. The finished Voki can then be shared on a wide range of platforms and media or added to an assignment. The Voki website also has the ability to create presentations with Voki's placed throughout.
Voki has a free version, with limited access to elements of the website. There are different versions of Voki that you can upgrade to starting from $30 a year and peaking at $99. This price could be seen as a little steep for a program that does not have that many capabilities. Teachers also run the risk of having students take advantage of the time used to create their own Voki and muck around.
One of the benefit of Voki is that it is easy to learn and quick to create. I have already used Voki within my SEPEP Unit underneath the Introduction Tab on the group page. But here is another example of how Voki can be used.
