Week 1
|
Notes:
Warm Up Activity 1 - Include that to be freed a student needs to perform a "roll ball" through the legs of the student that is stuck in the mud. -Ensure enough cones (stacked on each other) are set up originally so that they can be used in other drills. Warm Up Activity 2 - can add a variety of different ball handling movements Activity 1 - competition can be added by getting students to race other groups of 3 to a number of passes or by having as many passes (without drops) in a row before a time limit. Activity 3 - can be used to teach pick & drop, roll ball technique etc. by adding a touch. Activity 4- can add more players e.g. 3v2 to both activity 3 & 4. End Game- can make a variety of variations... -To get out of the dungeon students might have to complete 5 roll balls or taps etc. -Can have both teams with balls acting as both invaders and guards. Teams then have to decide how much they will focus on defence and attack. |
Week 2
|
Notes:
Warm Up Activity 1 - Can make a tagged player perform a tap instead of a roll ball and then pass to the person that tagged them. -Can add more or less taggers depending on how students perform. Warm Up Activity 2- Can increase or decrease group sizes. -Could make end players perform a tap before passing it back down the line. Activity 1, 2 and 3 - can increase the group sizes and length of the field that they need to get to before turning back around. Activity 3 and 4 - can increase the number of students within a group, so you can have more defenders or more attackers or both. End Game- can increase number of players in each group -can increase the amount of taps available to the attackers -can ask attacking teams to think about strategy when they are waiting for their turn |
Week 3
|
Notes:
Warm Up Activity 1 - can get students to pay more attention by tricking them with the call e.g. calling immediately after they return -instead of a pass, pairs could perform a roll ball to each other or tap the ball and then pass Warm Up Activity 2- can add another runner or defender to make it trickier or easier to score a try -can add a tap if there are multiple attackers Activity 2- can add an umpire to the defending team who will rotate next time that team is defending. |
Game Week
Can create a Round Robin easily by having the teams set out in two rows. Once a game is completed the teams rotate counter-clockwise e.g. for 6 teams
1 2 3 1v2, 3v4, 1 3 6 1v3, 6v2, 1 6 5 1v6, 5v3,
4 5 6 5v6 2 4 5 4v5 3 2 4 2v4
If there is an odd number of teams change the last number (in the last case 6 with a BYE)
The BYE team can then sit out for a round or act as umpires for the rest.
